About Third City Community Clinic
History:
Third City Community Clinic was started in March of 1994 as a place for people without the means to pay for medical care. Third City Community Clinic is a totally donation and grant-funded free & charitable health clinic. In early 1994, the nursing & medical staff at Family Practice of GI noticed that they were turning away people in need because they were uninsured, low-income, or both. It was decided that a clinic was needed in the area to provide free medical services to individuals and high-risk populations. We purchased the building that we currently reside in 2003 (1107 N. Broadwell Ave.).
General Information About Third City:
Third City Community Clinic is dedicated to providing compassionate, high-quality healthcare services to uninsured and low-income individuals in Central Nebraska. We strive to improve the health and well-being of our community through free medical, dental, and pharmaceutical care, alongside essential services such as our community garden and food pantry. Our mission is to foster a healthier community by ensuring access to vital resources and support for those in need.
We believe that all people have the same rights in health care. Our mission is to provide FREE medical, dental, pharmaceutical, and food pantry services to low-income and uninsured community members through the support of generous volunteers and donors.
Third City Community Clinic provides medical, pharmaceutical, and dental care to low-income individuals and families in Hall, Hamilton, Merrick, and Howard counties. These patients have no insurance, no government medical or dental assistance, and no funds to seek care elsewhere in our community. The clinic provides health education and referrals, which result in improved health for community members who are most at risk. The clinic has transitioned from a volume-based to a value-based model, so we may provide a true medical home for patients with both acute and chronic problems. Our services are totally free, and each prospective patient is screened and provided proof of income to be seen by our volunteer physicians and dentists. The clinic receives no federal, state, or city funding but relies on grants, donations, and fundraisers. The philosophy of the clinic is to help those who are making a sincere effort to maintain good health for themselves and their families. The clinic has all volunteer physicians and dentists; the staff consists of one full-time person, the Executive Director, a part-time Registered Nurse, and a part-time Dental Hygienist. The clinic also provides free school and sports physicals for children in need. Our Clinic’s goal is to provide increased health equity. We accomplish this by seeing anyone and will never turn anyone away based on ability to pay, sex, race, sexual orientation, or religion.
Lack of insurance, financial hardship, language barriers, and even transportation can make it impossible for families to access the healthcare they need. Third City Community Clinic provides free quality services to treat routine illnesses, alleviate pain, and perform testing for common ailments. Our providers are dedicated to ensuring a continuum of trusted, compassionate care.
Third City Community Clinic is one of the only facilities in Central Nebraska to offer free healthcare services. In 2024, the Clinic provided services to more than 1,500 medical patients, saving community members over $1,000,000 in medical expenses while also providing more than $1 million in free pharmaceuticals to those in need.
